What are by-product ingredients?

A by-product is something that is created during a manufacturing process which is not needed in the final product. The food and beauty industries are notorious for producing by-product ingredients which are often unnecessarily wasted.

By-product skincare utilises these ingredients that would otherwise be wasted and makes use of their natural properties including their vitamins and minerals. Making use of such ingredients brings balance to the skin and planet.

Why does Nuts Organic use by-product skincare ingredients?

Nuts Organic was founded on a strong set of principles and a promise to never compromise the environment through the manufacture of beauty products. We are constantly seeking ways to minimise our environmental impact and using by-products is a no-brainer for us!

An example of our by-product skincare is our REFRESH face polish. This face polish contains powdered argan kernels as an exfoliator. When argan oil is extracted, the kernels are discarded as waste. However, the kernels contain up to 30% more vitamin E than the oil itself so this by-product ingredient encourages your skin to retain water, stay hydrated and helps minimise skin sensitivity.

Our mask bowls are produced from naturally fallen coconut shells, which would otherwise be left to rot. They are cleaned and sanded ready for use and are washable and reusable! Our spoons and scoops are all produced from bamboo.
