About argan oil

Argan oil is known as “liquid gold” and “the gold of Morocco,” and is one of the rarest and most valuable oils in the world.  It’s made from the kernels of the Argania Spinosa tree, and is valued for its age-defying, hydrating, and healing properties.

Moroccan women have traditionally used Argan oil to nourish and protect their hair, skin and nails from the Moroccan climate, and it’s become popular worldwide in recent years.

How is it produced?

In early Spring, the fruit is green. When it ripens, it turns gold and falls off the tree, and at this point the fruit is harvested. The peel is removed and the pits are dried in the Moroccan sun.

Traditionally, the pit is cracked between two stones, the kernel removed and the oil pressed. Extracting argan oil through this method requires a lot of physical work, and nowadays machines are used to make the process easier.

The kernel is often thrown away after the oil is extracted, but since it contains up to 30% more vitamin E than the oil itself, we blitz it into powder form and add it to our REFRESH face polish.

Composition

Argan oil is rich in unsaturated fatty acids, vitamin E / tocopherols, squalene, sterols and CoQ10 and is perfect for all skin types, including sensitive and irritated skin. The naturally occurring squalene and coQ10 in this oil make it great for aging skin, as it can help with fine lines and wrinkles.

Why is argan oil used in most of our products?

In 2003 we first brought argan oil into the UK when it was pretty unheard of. We are immensely proud that this oil is now so recognised and truly believe that it is one of the most beneficial organic oils that nature offers.

It’s suitable for sensitive and reactive skin, and it helps nourish, hydrate, and even reverse signs of ageing.
